The final weekend of JNQ racing was full of drama, sun, and warm weather. Congrats to all who raced on a couple of great competitions. Results can be found at the links below.
The Aspen Valley Ski Club will host this year’s U14 and Younger Championships, and it promises to be a weekend full of fun on skis. This year’s themes is Tour de Sea, and with everything from a Nordic skier-cross event to a costume race and coaches’ relay, this is an event you won’t want to miss! More information is contained in the links below.
The final JNQ race weekend of the season will be hosted by Ski and Snowboard Club Vail at Maloit Park, in Minturn. Stadium and course maps are below, as well as an event info sheet.
This year, SSCV has set up an online waiver that must be filled out of all athletes participating in the event. This is an effort to save time and paper, and a link to the waiver can also be found below.
Finally, the RMN Junior National Team naming will take place after the races on Sunday. All skiers that think they may qualify for the team should bring payment, as well as filled-out and signed registration forms with them to the team naming. This will also be your opportunity to try on and purchase RMN uniforms for the trip.
After three JNQ race weekends, the race to qualify for the RMN Junior National Team is heating up, as are the RMN points standings for U14 and younger skiers. Current standings for all age groups can be found in the attachments below.
Waxing Protocol for the RMN JNQ races in Steamboat Springs, Saturday and Sunday January 23 & 24, 2016 are as follows:
- Saturday’s races: U16 and older female and U18 and older male junior skiers will be seeded and race with college skiers and there is not a ban on any waxes. U16 males will follow the RMN Waxing Protocol.
- Sunday’s races: All juniors skiers will follow the RMN Waxing Protocol because they are racing different distances than the college skiers.
Based on the weather forecast, the RMN glide wax selection for both days is Holmenkol Race Mid (red -4 to-10c). Please see the conditions above to see when this applies. U14 and younger age groups are encouraged to use LF glide waxes.
The second JNQ weekend of the 2015/2016 season is fast approaching, and teams from all over Colorado are gearing up for the races in Steamboat. The weekend will feature two distance races, one classic and one skate, and U18/U20 skiers will be combined with college racers on Saturday. It promises to be a great weekend of racing.
