Thursday, January 25th – Official Training 1:30pm to 4:30pm- course will remain open

Team Captain’s Meeting sent out electronically by 5:00pm. Deadline for scratches is 6pm. No scratches/refunds day of race.

Friday, January 26th – 10:00am Freestyle Sprint Qualifier (U20/18/16) – Interval Start

(15 second intervals) followed by Interval Start Distance (15 second intervals): U14, U12, U10, U8

Team check in- entry payment, waivers, and bib pick up 7:30 to 9:00am Olympian Hall

Saturday, January 27th – 11:00am Mass Start Classic (15 second) – 10k (U20/18 M + F) 5k (U16 M + F), 2.5k (U14/12 M + F), 1.75k (U10 M + F), .75k (U8 M + F)

9:00-10:00am – Bib pick up Olympian Hall

Event Notes

  • No backwards skiing on course at anytime
  • Sprint Course is closed 10 minutes prior to start of the Sprint Qualifier.Course opens for Distance Races and closes again for Sprint Heats.
  • Please yield to racers at all times!
  • There will not be “B” Finals in the Sprint Heats
  • The Heats will not be timed- “Lucky Loser” 2 x third places with lowest bib # advance out of the Quarter Finals. Top 3 finishers from Semis advance to Final. Exceptions with field size of 24 or less- refer to FIS rules.
  • Classic skiing only on Saturday
  • Best warm up skiing is west of the Howelsen Lodge- Hobo Park Trails- beyond the ski jump out runs. The two closest ball fields will also be groomed.
  • Access to Start from designated wax area (to your right as you enter the Rodeo Grounds from 5th Street- this is a new waxing site)
  • Awards for the Freestyle Sprint Freestyle Distance Race will take place as soon as results are available
  • Awards for the Distance Classic Race will take place as soon as results are available
  • Trail passes are required for training days prior to the event. Please purchase trail passes at the Snack Bar- Howelsen Lodge- ground level- for any non-event days- $14. Parents and siblings that would like to ski, please purchase a trail pass. There is Alpine skiing and Snowboarding as well, lift passes available at the Snack Bar

Entry Fees Payable to SSWSC

U16 and older – $42 per race

U14 & U12 – $32 per race

U10 & U8 – $17 per race

*Must have a signed SSWSC waiver for each competitor

Seeding: Seeding will be by USSA points where applicable and RMN points where applicable


  • Scratches accepted until Thursday @ 6pm- sent to 4-Corners Timing
  • U16 and older will compete in Heats
  • U14 + younger will race Individual Start on Friday
  • The results will remain unofficial until the protest period has elapsed.
  • Parking is located at the Rodeo Grounds- south end of 5th street
  • Registration is located in Olympian Hall- Howelsen Lodge. Olympian Hall is available for athlete use- Friday till 3pm and Saturday till 2pm- please be tidy!
  • Bathrooms in Howelsen Lodge and near Start/Finish. Food available at Snack Bar.
  • Power will be available at junction boxes west end of Rodeo Arena near start/finish and new waxing area.

U16 and older in both genders will race together and be seeded using U.S. Ski & Snowboard
points. Those without points will be scrambled and randomized as one group.

Entry Fees:
U16 and Older – $35 per race
U12 and U14 – $25 per race
U10 and U8 – $10 per race

Course Notes:
We have our full homologated 5k open and skiing well. It is thin but we are maintaining good

No dogs allowed at the race venue.
Trail passes must be bought by parents/spectators on Saturday and if they ski outside of racing
hours on Sunday and Monday. No skiing by parents or spectators allowed on course either day.
Course is open to athletes on Monday during mass starts.
Sprint course is not open to athletes on Sunday.
No parking on Journey’s End Rd
Team Vans may do wax drop off and turn around in the cul-de-sac and park at the Nordic Center
There will be two Porta-Potties located at the intersection of the trail adn Journey’s End Road,
otherwise there are bathrooms in the Nordic Center
We will have one 5,500 Watt Generator for coaches both days but please bring your own
extension cords.
